START & FINISH: The Thanksgiving Day Parade is once again following an exciting route for 2017 to accommodate construction of the LRT (Light Rail Transit) system.
Designated parking for the event will be available at the Lincoln Road Chapel, directly across the street from the Moses Springer Arena arena ( 145 Lincoln Road, Waterloo)
Shuttle buses will begin taking runners from Moses Springer Arena to the start line beginning at 6:15am. The last shuttle leaves at 7:25am.
Volunteers and First Aid will be available along the route to assist you if needed.
The route is flat and fast, with only a few small hills and turns located near the start and finish line area.
A police officer will escort the runners. Police will also be stationed at intersections to ensure runners’ safety.
One water station will be available at the ½ way mark.
Portable toilets will be set up at the start line area, at the water station at the halfway mark and at the finish line at Moses Springer Arena.
Walkers and Time Limits
Walkers are welcome. All walkers are asked to line-up behind the runners at the start line. Walkers should note that the race has a 1 hour time limit, as the Parade will be following shortly after. Anyone who is unable to finish in that time will be asked to step off the route to ensure the parade can proceed. A follow vehicle will be available to assist as required.
Strollers, Pets and Roller Blades
No pets or roller blades are allowed on the course for safety reasons. Strollers are allowed, but should line up near the rear of the start line.

Race Day Kit Pick Up
Race Day Kit Pick Up will be available at Moses Springer Arena, from 6:00 AM to 7:15 AM. All runners are encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays. After you pick up your race Kit, you will be shuttled by bus to the start line area. Last shuttle bus leaves at 7:25 am.
Your race kit will include your bib and timing chip, a t-shirt (guaranteed if registered before Sept 22nd) and your goodie bag, including a commemorative Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest button and gifts from our race sponsors.
Race Bibs and Timing Chips
Your bib will have a timing chip on it. The timing chip is disposable and does not need to be returned. The bib can be pinned (unmodified and fully-visible) to either the front or back of your shirt. Please be sure to write your full name, emergency contact information and any allergies or health conditions you have on the back of your race bib.
Bag Check at the start line is provided free to all runners. Race volunteers will attach a tag to your bag to match your bib number. Be sure to have your Race Bib when checking your bag. Bags will be available at the finish line for pick-up after the race. Your bib number is needed to pickup checked bags after the race. Come early to avoid line ups!
Please join us after the run for a post-race party. This is a family friendly event. We encourage you to bring your significant others, family and friends to join in the fun!
Food and beverages will be available.
Winners will be shuttled to the parade float immediately after the race.
All participants will receive a medal at the finish line
Donations to our charity partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region, can be made at the registration area at the finish line.
